The short answer

MCP for ecommerce lets an AI client such as Claude or ChatGPT read and act on your store's own tools. PopMCP hosts the MCP servers: connect Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, Google Ads, Gorgias and Stripe once, add one URL, and ask questions that cross them, such as which ads sold stock you cannot ship.

The stack for ecommerce brands, by job

33 of PopMCP's 100+ integrations are ones ecommerce brands run. Every plan includes all of them, and each name links to that tool's own page.

AI agents for ecommerce: eight questions that cross your tools

Each one joins tools from at least two parts of the stack, which is what a single connector cannot do. The tool names are the real ones your AI client calls.

Audit every open ticket that asks where an order is. For each one, give me the order's fulfilment status and the carrier's latest tracking scan.

AI for ecommerce customer service at its most useful: the whole queue checked against the store and the carrier at once, instead of three tabs per ticket.

Why hosted MCP fits an ecommerce business

A workspace holds one connection per provider, so a second Shopify store or a second ad account gets its own workspace. One sign-in from Claude or ChatGPT can still reach all of them, and every tool takes the connection to use.

An owner or admin sets every teammate to No access, Read, or Read and write, per connection. The support lead can work in the helpdesk without being able to touch an ad budget.

A question like Monday's numbers makes several calls across four tools. No plan counts, bills or caps them, so nobody rations questions in peak season. Plans are sized by workspaces, connections and teammates.

Your store, email and ad credentials are stored in PopMCP, encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Claude or ChatGPT holds a PopMCP sign-in and nothing else, so changing AI clients does not mean re-issuing keys.

Workspaces, each with its own connections. A drawing, not a screenshot.

Set it up in four steps, in Claude or ChatGPT

Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install on the provider side.

  1. Connect your accountsConnect your store, Klaviyo, your ad accounts and your helpdesk in PopMCP. Each one takes the credential its own API asks for, and a new connection starts read-only.
  2. Add one URL to Claude or ChatGPTAdd https://app.popmcp.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude or as a developer-mode app in ChatGPT. Other clients take the same URL.
  3. Sign in with OAuthThe client opens PopMCP's sign-in. There is no API key to paste, and your credentials never reach the client.
  4. Tick what that client may useOn the consent screen, tick only the connectors that client should reach. Then ask it to run list_connections and start with a question that only reads.

What it costs a single-brand store

One brand running Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4, Search Console, Gorgias, ShipStation and Stripe, used by the founder and one marketer.

A third teammate moves you to Studio, which holds eight. A second store is a second workspace with its own connections, and Starter already includes three workspaces. Extra connections are $4 a month and extra workspaces $12. See every plan.

Which writes to allow, and which to keep off

A new connection starts read-only. An owner or admin turns on Allow write actions for a connection, then sets each teammate to No access, Read, or Read and write. An allowed write runs the moment the AI calls it, so decide these before peak season.

Connection Keep read-only Turn writes on for
Meta AdsBudgets and campaign status. A wrong budget spends real money within the hour. The performance marketer, for pausing ad sets and building audiences.
ShopifyInventory levels, product prices and order edits.Whoever owns the catalog, for product and stock updates.
KlaviyoSending a campaign. A send cannot be recalled. The retention lead, for adding profiles to lists.
StripeRefunds, payouts and invoices. Keep money read-only for everyone but finance.Finance only, for the refunds they already issue by hand.
GorgiasNothing needs locking for reads. A reply goes out under your brand.Support agents, for replying to and tagging tickets.

What PopMCP does not do

It is not a workflow builder
PopMCP does not run anything on a schedule or react to a new order. A person asks the question in their AI client. For "when this happens, do that", keep your automation tool.
It is not an agent framework or a storefront chatbot
There is no SDK, no agent runtime and nothing that talks to shoppers. PopMCP gives the AI client your team already uses a controlled way to reach your tools.
It does not cover every ecommerce tool
The catalog is 100+ business tools, not thousands. Amazon Ads, Loop Returns and Triple Whale are not in it today. Request an integration.

Questions from ecommerce brands

Checked against the product on .

How do I use ChatGPT with my store?

Connect your store in PopMCP, then turn on developer mode in ChatGPT on the web and create an app from https://app.popmcp.com/mcp with OAuth. ChatGPT can then read orders, products and customers when you ask. Developer mode is not listed for ChatGPT's Free plan.

Can I use Claude for ecommerce work?

Yes. Add https://app.popmcp.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude under Customize, then Connectors. Claude's Free plan allows one custom connector, and PopMCP serves every tool you connect through that one.

What is the best AI agent for ecommerce?

The one that can reach your own data. An ecommerce AI agent that cannot see your orders, ad spend and tickets answers from general knowledge. Claude and ChatGPT both work well once they are connected to your store, email, ads and helpdesk, so pick the one your team already uses.

Does it work with more than one store?

Yes. Each store, ad account and analytics property is its own connection. A workspace holds one connection per provider, so a second Shopify store goes in a second workspace, and the AI is told which connection to use.

Can the AI change my prices, stock or ad budgets?

Only if you allow it. A new connection starts read-only. An owner or admin turns on write actions per connection and sets each teammate to No access, Read, or Read and write. An allowed write runs as soon as the AI calls it.

Do I need a developer to set up MCP for ecommerce?

No. There is nothing to deploy or host. You connect each tool with the credential its own API asks for, such as an API key for Klaviyo or an app you create in your Shopify Dev Dashboard, and paste one URL into your AI client.

What does it cost?

The Free plan is read-only with one workspace and two connections. Starter is $39 a month with three workspaces, 15 connections and write actions. Every new account starts with 14 days on Studio and needs no card. Tool calls are not metered on any plan.
