What teams ask before putting BigCommerce behind an AI client.

Which parts of my BigCommerce store can the agent reach?

The connection covers the full V2 and V3 admin API: catalog, orders, customers, carts, checkouts, pricing, promotions, content and settings. The largest surfaces are Products, Settings, Channels, Orders, Customers, Marketing, Price lists, Carts, Widgets, Categories, Checkouts, Sites and Brands. That includes variants, bulk pricing rules, coupons, content pages and webhook management, not just the top-level records.

How many operations does this expose, and are they all loaded at once?

There are 508 operations across 45 API modules, split 208 read and 300 write. Only 38 load by default to keep your AI client's tool list manageable; the rest stay searchable, and a full-catalog toggle loads everything when you need it. One thing to know when searching: tool names mirror BigCommerce's own operation names across V2 and V3, so you will see get_products next to customers_get and create_anew_coupon.

What do I paste in to connect, and where do those values come from?

Two fields: Store hash and Access token. Both come from a store-level API account you create in BigCommerce, and the agent can only do what that API account itself is allowed to do. There is no OAuth redirect to approve.

Can one connection cover multiple stores or storefronts?

One connection covers one store. The access token is scoped to exactly one store, so the MCP server is locked to that store and cannot reach another. Multiple storefronts inside the same store are a different matter: the Channels and Sites modules are part of the same connection, so an agent can list_channels and work across the channels that store already runs.

Can the agent run GraphQL Admin queries, or is it REST only?

Both. Alongside the REST operations there is graphql_admin, which executes a BigCommerce GraphQL Admin API request against POST /graphql. That is the escape hatch when you want one shaped query instead of several REST calls.

Which BigCommerce events can PopMCP watch?

PopMCP can watch 22 store webhooks. Order events cover created, status changed, updated, archived and refunded; catalog events cover product created, updated and deleted plus product stock changed and variant stock changed; customer created and customer updated cover the account side; and cart started and cart abandoned cover the checkout funnel. Order status changed fires on moves such as Shipped, Completed or Cancelled, which is usually the one people wire up first.

Do I have to run or host the BigCommerce MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?
