Claude Code MCP servers for business tools

One command in the terminal and a browser sign-in. Claude Code can then read real orders, payments, tickets and analytics while it works in your repository. No API keys, and no server to run.

Connect Claude Code to PopMCP

One command registers PopMCP, and /mcp signs you in. Add --scope user to use it in every project.

Add PopMCP to Claude Code

The server is registered once per scope. Each person signs in with their own PopMCP account, so access follows the person.

  1. Sign in at app.popmcp.com, connect Shopify, Stripe or any other tool, and check each one shows as Verified.

  2. Run this in a terminal. There is no token to paste. Add --scope user to use it in every project, or --scope project to share it through the repository's .mcp.json.

    Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp
  3. Start Claude Code, run /mcp, choose popmcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens.

    Inside Claude Code
    /mcp
  4. On the PopMCP consent screen, tick only the connectors Claude Code should reach, then approve.

  5. Run claude mcp list. PopMCP should show as connected rather than needing authentication. Then start with a read-only request.

    Terminal
    claude mcp list
What you save and run, in order. Drawn from the steps beside it, not a screenshot.

The short answer

Claude Code supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) over HTTP: claude mcp add --transport http registers a remote server, /mcp signs in to it with OAuth, and Claude Code can then call its tools. PopMCP is a hosted MCP server that puts 100+ business tools behind one URL, https://app.popmcp.com/mcp, so one entry reaches every tool you connect in PopMCP. Claude Code needs a Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan, or a Console account.

What to ask Claude Code

Claude Code calls PopMCP's tools, PopMCP reads your connected accounts, and the answer comes back in the chat. The tool names are the real ones Claude Code calls.

More to paste into Claude Code

  • Pull three recent Shopify orders so I can see the real field shapes before I write the migration.
  • Which Stripe products in this repository's config no longer exist?
  • List the HubSpot deal properties we have, so I can map them in the importer.
PopMCP's consent screen. Tick only the connections Claude should reach, then Authorize. Drawn from PopMCP's own consent screen, not a screenshot. Your layout may differ.

You decide what Claude Code can reach

That is set in PopMCP, not in Claude Code. The sign-in ends on a consent screen that lists your connections.

OAuth sign-in, no API keys
Claude Code signs in to PopMCP with OAuth 2.1. There is nothing to paste, and your Shopify or Stripe credentials stay encrypted inside PopMCP.
You pick the connectors
The consent screen lists your connections. Claude Code reaches only the ones you tick.
Read-only where you want it
A workspace owner or admin sets each teammate to no access, read, or read and write, per connection.
Every call is on the record
Usage shows each request by user, connector and tool. Removing someone's access applies on the next request.

Before you connect Claude Code

What Anthropic's docs say about remote servers in Claude Code, and one caution of ours.

Scopes decide where it shows up
The default scope is local to one project. --scope user makes PopMCP available in every project, and --scope project writes it to the repository's .mcp.json for the whole team.
Check the status, not just the list
claude mcp list shows Connected or Needs authentication beside each server. If PopMCP needs authentication, run /mcp and sign in again.
Plan requirement
Claude Code needs a Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan, or a Console account. The free Claude plan does not include it.
Data ends up in files
Claude Code can write what it reads into files in your repository. Keep live customer data out of commits.

Questions about Claude Code and PopMCP

Answered from Anthropic's documentation, checked on .

How do I add an MCP server to Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal, then start Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser.

Does Claude Code support remote MCP servers with OAuth?

Yes. Register the server with --transport http, then run /mcp inside Claude Code and follow the sign-in in your browser. PopMCP uses OAuth, so there is no API key to paste.

How do I share PopMCP with my team in Claude Code?

Add it with --scope project. Claude Code writes the server to .mcp.json in the repository, and each teammate signs in to PopMCP with their own account, so each gets the access their workspace role allows.

Which plan do I need for Claude Code?

Claude Code needs a Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan, or a Console account; the free Claude plan does not include it. PopMCP works the same on any of them.

Can Claude Code change data in my tools?

Only where you allow it. In PopMCP, Free is read-only, a new connection on a paid plan starts read-only until an owner or admin turns on write actions, and each teammate is set to no access, read, or read and write.
