What teams ask before putting Yext behind an AI client.

What does PopMCP need to connect Yext?

One API key, from an app you make in Yext. Open Developer, then Developer Console, click Add an App and give it a name. On the app's API Credentials tab, choose the permissions you want and save, then click the eye icon beside the API key and copy it. You need access to the Developer Console to do this.

Which permissions should I give the app?

Each API on the app can be set to Read/Write or Read-only, and PopMCP's tools can only do what the app allows. PopMCP checks the common ones when you connect and names any that are missing. Add a permission later and it starts working, with no need to reconnect.

Do I have to say whether my account is in the US or the EU?

No. PopMCP tries the key in Yext's US, EU and sandbox environments and remembers where it worked. Every call then goes to the right place.

Can one key connect several Yext accounts?

Yes, if it comes from a parent account. PopMCP lists the sub-accounts it can reach and you choose which to connect, each to its own workspace. A connection stays on the account you chose and refuses calls for another. A connection to the parent can also ask for rolled-up reviews, listings and analytics across its sub-accounts.

What happens when the AI changes a location?

Yext syncs it to the publishers on your subscription, so it can show up publicly. New connections start read-only until an owner or admin allows writes, and the AI is told to confirm these changes with you first.

Is there a request limit?

Yes. Yext allows an app 5,000 requests an hour, with 1,000 an hour for Analytics and for Agreements, and it limits short bursts as well. Summary tools such as yext_get_account_overview and yext_summarize_reviews answer in a few requests rather than paging through everything.

Do I have to run or host the Yext MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

How do I connect Yext to Claude Code?

Connect Yext in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Yext on the consent screen. The Yext tools are then available in that session, and no Yext credential is stored on your machine.
