Connect Superhuman Docs to Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code

Credentials off one Superhuman Docs screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.

In Superhuman Docs, open Account settings, scroll to API settings, choose Generate API token and paste the token here. It is free on every plan and needs no approval. To let the AI see less, restrict the token to the docs you pick, with read or read and write access.

Claude DesktopCustom connector

Add the PopMCP URL under Customize → Connectors and the tools appear in every chat.

Claude WebCustom connector

The same endpoint, registered in the browser. Nothing to install on the machine you are working from.

Register PopMCP as a custom connector, then let ChatGPT read and update the account.

CodexDesktop & CLI

Wire the endpoint into Codex or the Codex CLI when a task needs live business context, not a fixture.

Superhuman Docs MCP server questions

What teams ask before putting Superhuman Docs behind an AI client.

What does the Superhuman Docs MCP server need to connect?

One API token. In Superhuman Docs, open Account settings, scroll to API settings and choose Generate API token, give it a name such as PopMCP, and copy it straight away, because it is shown only once. Tokens are free on every plan and need no app or approval. PopMCP checks the token by asking Superhuman Docs who it belongs to, then stores it encrypted.

Coda is now Superhuman Docs. Does that change anything?

No. Coda was renamed Superhuman Docs in July 2026, and existing accounts, docs and API tokens carried over as they were. Old coda.io links still work and lead to docs.superhuman.com, and PopMCP accepts doc links from either address. The API is the same one, so every tool works whichever name you know it by.

Can I limit which docs the AI can reach?

Yes. A token reaches every doc you can open, unless you restrict it when you create it: pick the docs or tables it may touch and whether it can read, write or both. The AI then sees only those. On top of that, PopMCP starts every connection read-only, so nothing in Superhuman Docs changes until an owner or admin allows write actions.

Why does a row I just added not show up straight away?

Superhuman Docs queues every change. Adding rows, editing a page or deleting something is accepted at once and applied a few seconds later, and reads come from a copy of the doc that can lag by a few seconds too. Each write returns a request id, and get_mutation_status says when that change has landed, so the AI can confirm before it reads the doc again.

Can the AI read and write whole pages?

Yes. read_page exports a page as Markdown or HTML, waits for the export and returns the text, so the AI can summarize or quote it. create_page and update_page write Markdown or HTML to a page, adding to the end by default; replacing a whole page has to be asked for. To change or delete one part of a page, list_page_content gives the id of each element.

Which Superhuman Docs events can PopMCP watch?

Rows added, changed or deleted in a table you choose, docs created, removed or published, pages, tables and columns added, people given or losing access to a doc, new folders, a control changing value, a named formula or a doc's daily views crossing a level you set, and new Pack invitations. Superhuman Docs sends no webhooks of its own, so PopMCP checks for these on a schedule.

Does it work with Packs and automations?

Yes. trigger_automation runs a doc's automation rule that starts with a webhook, passing it whatever data you give it. Pack makers also get the full set of Pack tools: versions, releases, listings, permissions, invitations, logs and analytics. Uploading a Pack's code still goes through the Superhuman Docs Pack command line tool.

Do I have to run or host the Superhuman Docs MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

How do I connect Superhuman Docs to Claude Code?

Connect Superhuman Docs in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Superhuman Docs on the consent screen. The Superhuman Docs tools are then available in that session, and no Superhuman Docs credential is stored on your machine.

Why do only 31 of the 128 tools load by default?

Loading 128 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 31-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.

What is the difference between a tool and a trigger?

A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 128 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 16 Superhuman Docs events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Superhuman Docs.
