What does PopMCP need to connect SE Ranking?

One API key. In SE Ranking click the API icon in the left-hand menu, then Dashboard, and copy a key from the API Keys table. Most accounts already have one. To keep PopMCP on its own, choose Create API key and give it a name. The same key covers every SE Ranking API, so there is no second key to find.

Does using SE Ranking through PopMCP spend my API credits?

Data tools do: keyword, domain, backlink, SERP, AI search and audit calls spend the credits on your SE Ranking plan, at SE Ranking's own prices. Each tool's description states its cost, and a failed call is free. Connecting spends nothing. Project, Local Marketing and SE Visible tools use your plan's limits rather than credits.

Which SE Ranking plans can connect?

All current ones: Essential, Pro, Business, Core, Growth and Enterprise include the API and a monthly credit allowance, from 10,000 credits on Essential to 100,000 on Business, Growth and Enterprise. What a key reaches depends on the plan, and PopMCP tells you when you connect. SE Visible tools need an SE Visible subscription.

Can I connect from an SE Ranking sub-account?

Ask your account administrator for the key. SE Ranking keeps API access with the main account, so a sub-account has no API Dashboard of its own. Once the key is connected, the AI works with what the main account can reach.

SE Ranking has its own MCP server. Why connect through PopMCP?

SE Ranking's page says not every API endpoint is available through its server. PopMCP covers every endpoint SE Ranking documents, starts each connection read-only, lets you choose which AI clients reach it, and puts SE Ranking on the same single URL as your other connectors.

What happens with audits and SERP checks that take a while?

The tools start the job, wait as long as a tool call reasonably can, and return the result if it is ready. If not, the answer carries the id and the exact call to read it with, so the AI checks back later rather than paying for the job twice. New audits started this way stop at 100 pages unless you ask for more, which caps the cost.

Do I have to run or host the SE Ranking MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

How do I connect SE Ranking to Claude Code?

Connect SE Ranking in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking SE Ranking on the consent screen. The SE Ranking tools are then available in that session, and no SE Ranking credential is stored on your machine.

Why do only 43 of the 251 tools load by default?

Loading 251 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 43-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.

What is the difference between a tool and a trigger?

A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 251 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 6 SE Ranking events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into SE Ranking.
