mention_create_ alertCreate an alert so Mention starts monitoring the web and social media for a brand or topic.
Ask what people said about your brand this week, read the negative mentions first, tag and file what matters, hand replies to a teammate and find who has the most reach, in the Mention account you already use.

Credentials off one Mention screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.
Create an app in Mention's developer portal at dev.mention.com/apps, copy the access token at the bottom of its page and add it in PopMCP. PopMCP checks whose account it is and locks the connection to it. Your Mention account needs API access, which is a paid add-on on the Company plan.
••••••••••••3f7aCreating alerts, curating mentions, assigning tasks and changing who can see an alert are writes and wait until an owner or admin allows write actions; new connections start read-only. Assigning a task notifies a teammate, and deleting an alert deletes its mentions, so keep people who only read on read-only.
Drop the PopMCP URL into Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or any other supported client. It signs in through PopMCP with OAuth, so your Mention credential never leaves the server.
app.popmcp.com/mcpAsk for something harmless before the agent changes anything. Writes run as soon as it calls them, so confirm it reads the right account first.
What are people saying about us across my Mention alerts this week? Start with anything negative

Then just ask for the work
“What are people saying about us across my Mention alerts this week? Start with anything negative”
“Give me a report on my main brand alert for last month: volume per day, tone and who had the most influence”
“Create an alert for our new product name in English and French, across news, blogs and forums, leaving out the old project name”
“Mark these press mentions as read, tag them press and move them to the archive”
“Assign the latest negative mention to Sam as a task to reply to it this week”
“Who are the most influential people talking about my competitor alert this month?”
One hosted endpoint, registered once per client. The same tools and the same permissions, whichever window the request comes from.
Add the PopMCP URL under Customize → Connectors and the tools appear in every chat.
The same endpoint, registered in the browser. Nothing to install on the machine you are working from.
Register PopMCP as a custom connector, then let ChatGPT read and update the account.
Wire the endpoint into Codex or the Codex CLI when a task needs live business context, not a fixture.
Register the remote MCP server in OpenCode's config for terminal-first and scripted agent runs.
Add PopMCP as an MCP server in Z.ai's desktop app and work the account from the same window.
FAQ
What teams ask before putting Mention behind an AI client.
An access token. Sign in at dev.mention.com/apps, create an app or open one you have, and copy the access token at the bottom of its page. PopMCP checks whose account it is with Mention, stores the token encrypted and locks the connection to that account, so there is nothing else to pick. The token never reaches your AI client.
Your account needs API access. Mention's pricing page lists it as a paid add-on on the Company plan, and without it Mention refuses the token, which PopMCP tells you when you connect. Searching mentions with free text, and filtering or sorting by source or reach, also need a plan with search access.
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other networks do not allow Mention to pass their posts through its API. Those mentions arrive with a link, tone and author details but no title or text, and the answer tells the AI so, rather than letting it read them as empty posts. The full text is in the Mention app and in its exports.
Yes. In Mention every mention belongs to one alert, so get_recent_mentions reads up to ten alerts in one call and returns the results newest first, with the option to filter by folder, tone, unread or start date. If one alert fails, the others still come back and the answer names the one that did not.
New connections are read-only, so nothing changes until an owner or admin allows write actions. Even then, deleting the alert needs its exact name, deleting the account needs a typed phrase, and the sign-in email and password cannot be changed at all. Mentions are text strangers wrote, so the AI is told to treat them as data and never to act on instructions inside them.
Yes. stream_mentions listens to Mention's stream for up to 25 seconds, returns what arrives and closes the connection again, since Mention allows one open stream per account. It also hands back where to carry on from next time. To simply read what is new, list_mentions with the token from the previous answer is usually better.
No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.
Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.
Connect Mention in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Mention on the consent screen. The Mention tools are then available in that session, and no Mention credential is stored on your machine.
Loading 44 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 32-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.
A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 44 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 7 Mention events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Mention.
Launch a hosted MCP endpoint for Mention, keep tool access under control, and start testing real workflow prompts right away.
