Credentials off one Upfluence screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.

In Upfluence, open Settings, then API access, and choose Create client credentials. Paste the Client ID and Client secret into PopMCP. The secret is shown only once. PopMCP checks them by getting an access token and reading your lists, and shows your token balance when Upfluence shares it. Credentials belong to one account, so there is nothing else to choose.

Upfluence MCP server questions

What teams ask before putting Upfluence behind an AI client.

What does the Upfluence MCP server need to connect?

An Upfluence account and a Client ID and Client secret, which you create under Settings, then API access, in the Upfluence app. There is no developer app to register and no OAuth step. Data calls spend Upfluence API tokens, which are bought through your Upfluence account manager.

What do these tools cost?

They spend your Upfluence API tokens, from one shared balance. Upfluence's rates are 1 token per 500 search results, per 5 creator profiles, per audience, per 10 posts added to a stream, per 10 stream posts returned, and per 100 stream analytics updates. Workflow data is free. The tools that spend say so, and upfluence_get_credits shows your balance. PopMCP adds nothing to this.

Can read-only stop the AI spending tokens?

No. Read-only stops changes such as editing lists, creating streams and requesting payments. Searches, profiles and audiences are reads, so they stay available and use tokens. To stop an AI client spending them, leave Upfluence unticked for that client on the PopMCP consent screen.

Can it pay creators?

It can create a payment request, once write actions are allowed. The creator is emailed and claims the money from a page. Each request carries a key that stops a retry from paying twice, and the AI is told to confirm the creator, amount and currency with you first.

Does it return personal data?

Yes. Creator profiles can include email addresses, phone numbers and shipping addresses, because Upfluence holds them, and they reach the AI client you connected. Whether you may use them for outreach depends on your own legal basis, so check that before you contact anyone.

Which parts of Upfluence are left out?

Emailing creators, the inbox, and approving or rejecting creators on a campaign are not in Upfluence's REST API, so use the Upfluence app for those. X and blog content is retired by Upfluence and left out of profile answers, though X names and follower counts remain.

Do I have to run or host the Upfluence MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

How do I connect Upfluence to Claude Code?

Connect Upfluence in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Upfluence on the consent screen. The Upfluence tools are then available in that session, and no Upfluence credential is stored on your machine.

Why do only 37 of the 55 tools load by default?

Loading 55 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 37-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.

What is the difference between a tool and a trigger?

A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 55 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 3 Upfluence events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Upfluence.
