Credentials off one Nosto screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.
In the Nosto admin, copy your account ID from the top right corner, under your shop name. Then open Account Settings, Authentication Tokens, and click Decrypt on the API_APPS row. Paste both here. Other tokens go under More options, and each one opens another part of Nosto. Nosto's help says tokens are created by its support or by some extensions, so if a row is missing, ask Nosto support.
shopify-12345678••••••••••••3f7a••••••••••••3f7aProduct updates, exchange rates and Search Templates deployments reach your live store the moment the AI calls them, and erasing a customer's data cannot be undone. Nosto tokens have no read-only setting, so choose read-only access in PopMCP to keep a connection to reading. Each connection reaches one Nosto store.
Drop the PopMCP URL into Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or any other supported client. It signs in through PopMCP with OAuth, so your Nosto credential never leaves the server.
app.popmcp.com/mcpAsk for something harmless before the agent changes anything. Writes run as soon as it calls them, so confirm it reads the right account first.

Then just ask for the work
“What were my best sellers over the last week, with prices and links?”
“Search my store for green jackets and show which filters shoppers get”
“Change the price of product 5358 to 49 euros and tell me if Nosto refused it”
“What attributes does Nosto hold for jane@example.com, and what would it recommend to her?”
“List my segments and the brands and categories Nosto scores highest”
“Discontinue products 101 and 102 so they stop showing in recommendations”
One hosted endpoint, registered once per client. The same tools and the same permissions, whichever window the request comes from.
Add the PopMCP URL under Customize → Connectors and the tools appear in every chat.
The same endpoint, registered in the browser. Nothing to install on the machine you are working from.
Register PopMCP as a custom connector, then let ChatGPT read and update the account.
Wire the endpoint into Codex or the Codex CLI when a task needs live business context, not a fixture.
Register the remote MCP server in OpenCode's config for terminal-first and scripted agent runs.
Add PopMCP as an MCP server in Z.ai's desktop app and work the account from the same window.
FAQ
What teams ask before putting Nosto behind an AI client.
Your account ID, shown in the top right corner of the Nosto admin, and at least one token from Account Settings, Authentication Tokens. Click Decrypt on a row to see its token. The API_APPS token covers products, recommendations, identities, orders, segments and sessions. There is no app to register.
Nosto gives each part of its API its own token. API_APPS is the main one. API_SEARCH adds private search fields and Search Templates, API_PRODUCTS sends full product records, API_EMAIL handles the email blacklist, consent and GDPR requests, API_RATES sets exchange rates, API_SETTINGS changes store settings, and API_LIM reaches the LIM skill. Paste the ones you have, and a tool whose token is missing tells you which one it needs.
Nosto's help says tokens are created by its support or by some extensions, and to ask support if you need one. Nosto's API docs ask you to say which API you want, why, and how many requests you expect. Add the token by connecting again once it appears.
Yes, on a connection that can write. Product changes reach recommendations and search at once, and Nosto warns that a wrong exchange rate call can stop personalization. Choose read-only access in PopMCP to keep the AI to reading: every tool that changes something is then removed.
Not for what shoppers can see. Nosto's search answers public requests with your account ID alone. Sorting by sales, returning private fields or listing every product needs the API_SEARCH token.
No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.
Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.
Connect Nosto in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Nosto on the consent screen. The Nosto tools are then available in that session, and no Nosto credential is stored on your machine.
Loading 64 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 33-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.
A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 64 here. A trigger is an event PopMCP watches for on its own. Nosto has no triggers yet, so everything on this page happens when your AI calls a tool.
Launch a hosted MCP endpoint for Nosto, keep tool access under control, and start testing real workflow prompts right away.
