Credentials off one Intercom screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.
Paste an Access token copied from your Intercom workspace. Data region is optional — set it to eu or au if your workspace is not hosted in the US. The token is workspace-scoped, so the connection stays inside it.
••••••••••••3f7ausPick read-only for reporting, or full access with writes held for approval so a reply to a customer, a ticket status change or a published article waits for review. Turn on the full catalog when you need the rest.
Drop the PopMCP URL into Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or any other supported client. It signs in through PopMCP with OAuth, so your Intercom credential never leaves the server.
app.popmcp.com/mcp/…Ask for something harmless before you turn writes on. Once it comes back clean, widen the tool set or switch the connection to full access.
Show me every open conversation tagged billing from the last week
intercom_list_tagsok
Then just ask for the work
“Show me every open conversation tagged billing from the last week”
“Tag the open conversations about refunds as escalated and assign them to me”
“Create a ticket for Acme's failed webhook and reply in their conversation”
“Which Acme contacts have open tickets and what tags are on them?”
One hosted endpoint, registered once per client. The same tools and the same permissions, whichever window the request comes from.
Add the PopMCP URL under Settings → Connectors and the tools appear in every chat.
The same endpoint, registered in the browser. Nothing to install on the machine you are working from.
Register PopMCP as a custom connector, then let ChatGPT read and update the account.
Wire the endpoint into Codex or the Codex CLI when a task needs live business context, not a fixture.
Register the remote MCP server in OpenCode's config for terminal-first and scripted agent runs.
Add PopMCP as an MCP server in Z.ai's desktop app and work the account from the same window.
FAQ
What teams ask before putting Intercom behind an AI client.
One value: an Access token, which you copy from Intercom and paste into the connect form. There is also an optional Data region field that takes us, eu or au. Because a token is created inside a single Intercom workspace, the connection is locked to that workspace — pointing PopMCP at a different one means connecting that workspace's own token.
Yes. Set Data region to eu or au when you paste the token so calls go to the right regional API. The field is optional, so US-hosted workspaces can leave it blank. If the value does not match where Intercom hosts your workspace, calls go to the wrong regional endpoint and never reach your data.
It can write. Replies to conversations and tickets, tag changes, contact and company updates, conversation-to-ticket conversion and article publishing are all available. If that is more than you want, set the connection to read-only, or keep full access and require approval on writes so each outbound action is shown to you before it lands in the inbox.
The connection covers the full REST API: conversations, tickets, contacts, companies, messages, notes, tags, segments, articles, Help Center, news, data attributes, events and exports, Fin AI content, calls, teams and admins. So a question about a customer can pull their company record, their segments, their tickets and the calls logged against them in one pass. Custom object instances and internal knowledge articles are in scope too.
It can find it. Conversations, tickets and contacts are all searchable, so "the open thread with Acme about billing" resolves to a conversation the agent can then retrieve and reply to. Tags and company records narrow it further, and once a contact is identified you can list the companies, tags, segments and subscriptions attached to them.
Yes — there are 14 events PopMCP can watch, including a conversation started in the inbox, a ticket created, a contact or company created, a call logged, an outbound email sent, and a Help Center article or news item published. Most are change detection; teammate actions are polled. They run on the PopMCP side, and you can browse all 14 in the triggers tab of the catalog above.
No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.
Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server — Claude Desktop, Claude Web, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.
Loading 160 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 59-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. You can switch a connection to the full catalog at any time.
A tool is something your AI calls — there are 160 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 14 Intercom events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Intercom.
Launch a hosted MCP endpoint for Intercom, keep tool access under control, and start testing real workflow prompts right away.
