What teams ask before putting Dropbox Sign behind an AI client.
Do I need to run an OAuth flow to connect Dropbox Sign?
No. The connect form asks for an API key, which you copy from your Dropbox Sign account and paste into the API key field, plus an optional Key type. There is no OAuth screen and no password to hand over. The key is locked to a single account, so the server can act on that account's documents and templates and nothing beyond them.
Is this the same thing as HelloSign?
Yes. Dropbox Sign is the product formerly called HelloSign. If your internal docs or scripts still say HelloSign, that is this product — the API key you copy from your Dropbox Sign account is what goes in the API key field here.
What can the agent reach besides sending documents for signature?
Signature requests are the largest module, but the connection also covers templates, teams, fax lines and faxes, account details, API apps, unclaimed drafts, bulk send jobs, embedded signing and reports. So an agent can look up who is on the team or check an API app in the same conversation where it chases a signer.

Can the agent really send documents to live signers, and how do I hold that back?
Yes. It can send from a file URL or from a template, run bulk sends, remind signers, release on-hold requests and cancel incomplete ones. Set the connection to read-only and it will only report on what is already there. Keep full access with approval required on writes and anything that lands in a signer's inbox, kills a live request, or deletes a template waits for your yes.
Can it download the finished signed copies and drive embedded signing?
Signed files and template files come back as a file URL or a data URI, and the "Signed copy ready" webhook fires when the finished signed document is ready to download. For embedded flows the agent can create embedded signature requests and embedded template drafts, then fetch an embedded sign URL or an embedded template edit URL to hand to your own front end. Unclaimed drafts are covered too — it can create one, or an embedded unclaimed draft from a template.
Do I have to run or host the Dropbox Sign MCP server myself?
