descript_cancel_ jobCancel a job that is still running.
Hand over a recording and a sentence about what you want. Your AI brings it into Descript, has Underlord do the edit, and comes back with the project and the share link.
PopMCPDescript
Every endpoint in Descript's API, plus tools that import from links or files, run an edit, publish a composition and wait for the result, because each of those jobs runs in the background and answers only a job id at first.
21 tools in the full catalog: 11 read and 10 write. 17 load by default, and the rest are found with tool search.
descript_cancel_ jobCancel a job that is still running.
descript_get_ jobCheck one job once: state, progress, and the result when it ends.
descript_import_ mediaBring media into Descript from links: the normal way to import.
descript_list_ jobsList import, edit and publish jobs, newest first, with state and result.
descript_start_ drive_ media_ importStart importing media into the Drive's shared media library, not into a project.
descript_start_ project_ media_ importStart importing media into a new or existing project, with full control over multitrack sequences and timelines.
descript_upload_ mediaSend Descript a file that has no link it can read, such as one on your computer, or a link without Range support.
descript_wait_ for_ jobWait for a Descript job that is still going, and get its result when it ends.
descript_edit_ with_ agentHave Underlord, Descript's AI editor, do something in a plain sentence, like "remove filler words and add Studio Sound", "create a 30 second highlight reel", or "add captions".
descript_get_ projectGet one project: its media files with type and length, its compositions with their ids, and its published share pages.
descript_get_ published_ projectRead a published page's details from its link: title, length, who published it and when, privacy, subtitles as VTT, and a download link that expires.
descript_list_ agent_ modelsList the AI models Underlord can use, each with a low, medium or high cost tier, and the aliases that follow the newest version of a family.
descript_list_ projectsList the projects you can reach on this Drive, with id, name, folder and dates.
descript_publish_ and_ waitPublish a composition to a share page and get its links, which is also the only way to get a finished video or audio file.
descript_search_ driveSearch this whole Drive by name and by what is said or shown: projects, folders, layout packs and media files, ranked best first, up to 100 results.
descript_get_ transcriptGet a composition's transcript, to read or as a file.
descript_get_ statusCheck that the connection works and see which Drive it is tied to, with its id and name, and the API version.
descript_start_ agent_ editStart Underlord, Descript's AI editor, on a plain language instruction.
descript_start_ publishStart publishing a composition to a share page, which also renders a file to download.
descript_export_ transcriptExport a composition's transcript as text.
descript_create_ edit_ in_ descript_ linkPartner integrations only: make an one-time link that opens Descript's import screen with your files ready.
Credentials off one Descript screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.
Paste an API token. In Descript, open Settings, go to API tokens, click Create token and pick the Drive it should reach. It is shown only once. PopMCP checks it and names the connection after your Drive, so there is nothing else to choose.
••••••••••••3f7aImports use your media minutes and edits use your AI credits, so imports, edits, publishing and cancelling are writes and wait until an owner or admin allows write actions. New connections start read-only, which still lets your AI search your Drive, open projects, check jobs and read transcripts. Tick Descript on the PopMCP consent screen only for clients that need it.
Drop the PopMCP URL into Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or any other supported client. It signs in through PopMCP with OAuth, so your Descript credential never leaves the server.
app.popmcp.com/mcpAsk for something harmless before the agent changes anything. Writes run as soon as it calls them, so confirm it reads the right account first.
Import this recording, remove the filler words and add Studio Sound
descript_import_mediaok
Then just ask for the work
“Import this recording, remove the filler words and add Studio Sound”
“Find the webinar where we talked about pricing and give me the transcript”
“Make a short highlight reel from my latest project”
“Publish this project at 1080p as an unlisted page and give me the links”
“Turn this project's transcript into subtitles I can download”
“Which of my imports and edits failed this week, and why?”
One hosted endpoint, registered once per client. The same tools and the same permissions, whichever window the request comes from.
Add the PopMCP URL under Customize → Connectors and the tools appear in every chat.
The same endpoint, registered in the browser. Nothing to install on the machine you are working from.
Register PopMCP as a custom connector, then let ChatGPT read and update the account.
Wire the endpoint into Codex or the Codex CLI when a task needs live business context, not a fixture.
Register the remote MCP server in OpenCode's config for terminal-first and scripted agent runs.
Add PopMCP as an MCP server in Z.ai's desktop app and work the account from the same window.
FAQ
What teams ask before putting Descript behind an AI client.
A Descript API token. In Descript, open Settings, go to API tokens and create one for the Drive you want your AI to use. Paste it into PopMCP. Descript says API access is available for paying users, so you need a paid plan. There is no app to review and nothing to deploy.
Only if you let it. New PopMCP connections start read-only, so your AI can search and read but cannot start an import, an edit or a publish until an owner or admin allows write actions. A finished job reports what it used.
Whatever you can ask it in a sentence, such as removing filler words, adding Studio Sound or captions, or making a highlight reel. Your AI sends the instruction and reads back what Underlord says it did. You can follow up in the same conversation, and review the changes in Descript.
A job keeps going at Descript after the wait ends. Your AI gets the job id and picks it up with a wait tool, so a long edit does not start twice.
No. Descript does not accept YouTube links. Use a direct link to the file, or send the file itself. Google Drive and Dropbox share links are turned into direct links for you, and the file must be shared so Descript can read it.
Publish it. Publishing gives you a share page and a download link that expires, so save the file before then. Publishing the same composition again overwrites the same share page.
A token reaches one Drive. To use another Drive, create a token for it and connect that too.
No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.
Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.
Connect Descript in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Descript on the consent screen. The Descript tools are then available in that session, and no Descript credential is stored on your machine.
Loading 21 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 17-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.
A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 21 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 4 Descript events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Descript.
Launch a hosted MCP endpoint for Descript, keep tool access under control, and start testing real workflow prompts right away.
