What teams ask before putting Crisp behind an AI client.

What do I need from Crisp to connect?

Three values: Website ID, Token Identifier and Token Key. Generate the token in Crisp under Settings → Workspace Settings → Advanced configuration → API Token, then click Generate Token. The Website ID lives on a different screen: Settings → Workspace Settings → Setup Instructions.

Do I need a Crisp Marketplace plugin or an OAuth app?

No. There is no Marketplace plugin to install, no OAuth app to register and no redirect URL to configure, and the token never needs refreshing. PopMCP authenticates server-side over HTTPS using HTTP Basic plus an X-Crisp-Tier header, so the connection works the moment you save it.

Is the connection limited to one Crisp workspace?

Yes. A Website Token is bound to a single workspace, and the Website ID you paste pins the MCP server to it. Your agent cannot wander into another workspace's conversations or contacts on the same token.

How much of the Crisp API does this cover?

238 operations across 19 API modules, split 105 read and 133 write. The largest are Conversations (60), Helpdesk (54), People (25) and Campaigns (21), with Batch, Operators, Visitors, Inbox, Website and Availability alongside them. 46 tools load into your AI client by default and the rest stay searchable, so the tool list does not swamp the model's context.

Can the agent send messages to customers, or can I keep it read-only?

Both are supported. Read-only mode limits it to reading threads, states, routing and contact records, which is what you want for reporting. On a full-access connection, sending a message in a conversation, changing state, reassigning an operator and blocking incoming messages are all available, and approval-required-for-writes puts a human between the agent and anything a customer would actually see.

Can it clear a support backlog in bulk?

Yes. Crisp exposes a Batch module with 14 operations, including batch_read_conversations and batch_resolve_conversations, so an agent can mark a filtered set read or resolve it in one pass instead of looping conversation by conversation. These are exactly the calls worth keeping behind write approval, since a bad filter resolves threads that were still live.

Do I have to run or host the Crisp MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server — Claude Desktop, Claude Web, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

Why do only 46 of the 238 tools load by default?

What is the difference between a tool and a trigger?

A tool is something your AI calls — there are 238 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 16 Crisp events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Crisp.
