CreatorIQ MCP server questions

What teams ask before putting CreatorIQ behind an AI client.

What does the CreatorIQ MCP server need to connect?

One CreatorIQ API key and a CreatorIQ account to go with it. There is no developer app to register and no OAuth. CreatorIQ does not offer a page where you make a key yourself: your account manager issues it, or you can ask at support@creatoriq.com. If you are still talking to their sales team, they can set up a sandbox and a key for it.

Should I ask for a partner level or a division level key?

A partner level key reaches the whole account. A division level key reaches one division, which suits a team that should only see its own creators and campaigns. Keys have no read-only setting of their own, so use PopMCP's read-only mode if an AI should only read.

How do reports work?

CreatorIQ builds a report as a background task. Each report tool waits for it, for up to about 40 seconds, and returns the rows. If a large report takes longer, the tool says it is still processing and the AI calls it again with the same inputs, which picks up the same task. Long reports come back in pages.

Why does the AI talk about publishers?

That is what CreatorIQ's API calls creators and influencers. They are the same people you see in the app, so you can ask in whichever words you like.

How fresh is the data?

CreatorIQ says creator accounts and posts update about every 24 hours, and campaign posts every 8 to 9 hours, or about every 56 hours on very large or long campaigns. A tool can ask CreatorIQ to fetch a campaign's latest posts right away.

Are there limits?

CreatorIQ allows 5 requests a second and 100,000 a day for each key. If a limit is reached, the tool says so and when to try again.

Does it return personal data?

Yes. Creator records can include contact details, dates of birth and payment status, as they do in CreatorIQ. Those answers go to the AI client you connect, so choose carefully which clients can use this connection.

Which parts of the CreatorIQ API are left out?

Three endpoints CreatorIQ has already retired, each with a replacement that is included. Some social timeline endpoints appear only in CreatorIQ's private premium documentation, and Lists 2.0 has no public reference yet, so neither is available here for now. The older Lists and One-sheets tools still work and are marked deprecated, as they are by CreatorIQ.

Do I have to run or host the CreatorIQ MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

How do I connect CreatorIQ to Claude Code?

Connect CreatorIQ in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking CreatorIQ on the consent screen. The CreatorIQ tools are then available in that session, and no CreatorIQ credential is stored on your machine.

Why do only 37 of the 138 tools load by default?

Loading 138 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 37-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.

What is the difference between a tool and a trigger?

A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 138 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 12 CreatorIQ events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into CreatorIQ.
