Credentials off one CJ Affiliate screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.
On the CJ Developer Portal open Personal Access Tokens, enter a token name, choose Register and copy the token, which CJ shows only once. Paste it into PopMCP with your company id, the number shown as CID when you select your company name at the top right of CJ Account Manager. PopMCP works out whether the company is a publisher or an advertiser. There is no app to review and nothing to deploy.

Sending or cancelling orders, importing products and changing promotional properties wait until an owner or admin allows write actions; new connections start read-only. Each connection is pinned to one company and refuses any other. CJ tokens have no permission settings of their own, so this switch is the limit. Order tools have a test version that never reaches your reports.

What teams ask before putting CJ Affiliate behind an AI client.
What does PopMCP need to connect CJ Affiliate?
A personal access token from the CJ Developer Portal, and your company id from CJ Account Manager. PopMCP stores the token encrypted and sends it server-side only, so it never reaches your AI client.
Is this the same as CJ Dropshipping?
No. CJ Affiliate, once called Commission Junction, is an affiliate network. CJ Dropshipping is a different company with its own PopMCP connector.
Does it work for both publishers and advertisers?
Yes. PopMCP works out which kind of company you connected and loads its tools. A publisher tool on an advertiser connection is refused with a sentence saying why, before anything is sent.
I belong to several CJ companies. What happens?
A CJ token belongs to you rather than to a company. Each connection is pinned to the company id you enter and refuses any other. To work across several, connect each one.
Why does one order show up as several commission rows?
CJ reports a correction as a separate row with negative amounts and the same order id. The get_commissions tool adds those together, so the totals you get are final figures.
Can the AI change real commission?
Only if an owner or admin allows write actions, and new connections start read-only. Order tools have a test version that uses CJ's Test Mode. CJ can take over an hour to process an order, so a successful answer means CJ received it.
What is an enterprise id, and do I need one?
Only advertisers sending orders need it. CJ issues it, so ask your CJ account manager. You can save it on the connection under More options, or give it with each order.
Do I have to run or host the CJ Affiliate MCP server myself?
No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.
Which AI clients can use this MCP server?
Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.
How do I connect CJ Affiliate to Claude Code?
Connect CJ Affiliate in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking CJ Affiliate on the consent screen. The CJ Affiliate tools are then available in that session, and no CJ Affiliate credential is stored on your machine.
