Circle MCP server for your AI

Ask who joined this week, look up any member with their spaces and tags, draft a post for the right space, check what got reported and see who is paying, all in the Circle community you already run.

PopMCPCircle

Connect Circle to Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code

Credentials off one Circle screen, then an endpoint your client signs into. Nothing to deploy, and nothing to install.

In your Circle community open Settings, then Developers, then Tokens. Create a token with the type Admin V2 and paste it into PopMCP. The type matters: a V1 or Headless token looks the same and does not work here. You need the Business plan or higher, and there is nothing to deploy.

Use Circle from the assistant you already open

One hosted endpoint, registered once per client. The same tools and the same permissions, whichever window the request comes from.

Claude DesktopCustom connector

Add the PopMCP URL under Customize → Connectors and the tools appear in every chat.

Claude WebCustom connector

The same endpoint, registered in the browser. Nothing to install on the machine you are working from.

ChatGPTCustom connector

Register PopMCP as a custom connector, then let ChatGPT read and update the account.

CodexDesktop & CLI

Wire the endpoint into Codex or the Codex CLI when a task needs live business context, not a fixture.

OpenCodeCoding agent

Register the remote MCP server in OpenCode's config for terminal-first and scripted agent runs.

ZCodeDesktop app

Add PopMCP as an MCP server in Z.ai's desktop app and work the account from the same window.

Circle MCP server questions

What teams ask before putting Circle behind an AI client.

Is this Circle the community platform?

Yes. This connects Circle at circle.so, where you run spaces, members, courses and events. It has nothing to do with Circle the payments company.

What does PopMCP need to connect Circle?

An Admin V2 token, from Settings, Developers, Tokens in your community. It is one field. PopMCP stores it encrypted and checks it against Circle when you connect. The token never reaches your AI client.

Which Circle plan do I need?

Business or higher. Circle's Professional plan does not include its APIs, and on that plan Circle refuses the token. Circle's pricing page lists Business at $199 a month.

Does using it cost anything on the Circle side?

Every call counts toward your plan's Admin API requests: 5,000 a month on Business and 30,000 on Scale. Circle's pricing page lists extra requests at $.005 each on Business and $.002 on Scale. You can watch usage under Settings, Developers, and PopMCP limits how fast one connection can spend them.

Can I give the AI read-only access?

Yes, and new connections start that way. Circle's token always has full access to the community, so the limit is PopMCP's: while write actions are off, every tool that changes something is hidden and refused.

Can the AI post as one of my members?

Only if you add a Headless Auth token and name one member under More options when you connect. Those tools then act as that member and nobody else, and the AI cannot switch to someone different. Each member using them counts toward Circle's monthly active member allowance.

Can the AI delete someone by accident?

Only with write actions on, and it is told to ask first. Deactivating a member can be undone. Deleting or banning cannot, and both also remove what that person posted, so each tool says so. Those two stay out of the default tools.

Do I have to run or host the Circle MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

How do I connect Circle to Claude Code?

Connect Circle in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Circle on the consent screen. The Circle tools are then available in that session, and no Circle credential is stored on your machine.

Why do only 41 of the 282 tools load by default?

Loading 282 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 41-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.

What is the difference between a tool and a trigger?

A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 282 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 12 Circle events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Circle.
