Birdeye MCP server questions

What teams ask before putting Birdeye behind an AI client.

What do I need to connect Birdeye?

A Birdeye account with API access, and two values from its Settings, Integrations, API page: the API key and the Business ID. If your key is refused as not activated, Birdeye support or your Birdeye rep can turn on API access.

Does it work with several locations?

Yes. Connect with your main account's Business ID and its locations come with it. Tools use the whole account unless you name a location, and the AI can look locations up by name. A number from outside your account is refused before anything is returned.

Can the AI reply to reviews by itself?

Only if you turn on write access for the connection, and connections start read-only. Once it is on, a reply goes out as soon as the AI calls the tool and appears publicly on the review site, so ask it to show you the words first. The tools tell the AI to confirm with you.

Can it message my customers?

A customer check-in can send a review request by email or text, with write access on. Reading the inbox and listing contacts change nothing. Set a contact's text permission only if that person has agreed to it.

Why do I see fewer reviews than in Birdeye?

Birdeye returns only featured reviews unless asked for all of them. The tools tell the AI this, so asking for every review, or for reviews with no reply, covers the rest.

Do I have to run or host the Birdeye MCP server myself?

No. PopMCP hosts it and gives you a Streamable HTTP MCP URL. There is nothing to deploy, no callback URL to register, and no infrastructure to keep running or patch.

Which AI clients can use this MCP server?

Any client that supports a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server: Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, ChatGPT custom connectors, Codex and the Codex CLI, OpenCode and Z.ai's ZCode, as well as editors such as Cursor, Windsurf and Zed. Your client signs in to PopMCP with OAuth; the provider credential never leaves the server.

How do I connect Birdeye to Claude Code?

Connect Birdeye in PopMCP first, then run claude mcp add --transport http popmcp https://app.popmcp.com/mcp in a terminal. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and sign in to PopMCP in the browser window it opens, ticking Birdeye on the consent screen. The Birdeye tools are then available in that session, and no Birdeye credential is stored on your machine.

Why do only 37 of the 183 tools load by default?

Loading 183 tool definitions into every conversation burns context before the work starts. PopMCP loads a curated 37-tool set covering the everyday workflows and keeps the rest searchable, so your AI pulls a specialist tool only when a task needs it. Every tool stays searchable, and on Scale the owner can load the full catalog for a teammate's connection.

What is the difference between a tool and a trigger?

A tool is something your AI calls, and there are 183 here. A trigger is something PopMCP watches for you: 9 Birdeye events that can start work on the PopMCP side. Triggers never enter your AI client's context, and none of them ask you to paste a callback URL into Birdeye.
